当作は実景を見ながら特定の場所を表した風景ではなく、かつて見た各地の丘や台地の斜面に建ち並ぶ家の景を思い起こしながら描いた。多摩丘陵の丘に重なる家並み、京王百草園の激坂を坂下から見る家、世田谷の野川から眺める国分寺崖線の風景、北区赤羽台を平地から見る家々、パリの二つの丘を下から望む景観など。丘の家ならではの眺望は、日々の暮らしの中に解放感や潤いをもたらしているだろう、と想像しながら。
		The painting reflects the views of the hills in my memory, which I saw in different places and at different times. My memory goes back to the hillside packed by houses in the suburb of Tokyo, to the two hills in Paris seen from far below, etc. I let my imagination flow to the views from the houses on the hills, which, I assume, should bring a sense of openness and pleasantness to the people who live there.
