山を背景に民家になじんで、すっくと立って凛とした姿を見せる火の見やぐらの鉄塔は、 山間部の集落風景に溶け込み存在感を示してきた。しかし、 地域住民の防災機能としての役割を終えて撤去が進む。名残を惜しみながら、そして、忘れ去られてゆく。地域に根づいてきた昭和の遺産といえる火の見やぐらの風情を感じさせる景は、おのずと気持ちを包み込んで制作意欲を刺激する。   The watch tower, having served its purpose of disaster prevention for the community, is being demolished and is destined to disappear into oblivion. The structure of the iron tower rising to its full height with mountains in the back looks handsome and nicely blends in with the local houses. It’s in perfect harmony with the landscape and yet its presence has always been felt. I readily paint the landscape with a watch tower. It is a heritage of the Showa Period (1926-1989), which has deep rooted in the community and has created a charming scenery of a remote mountain village.
