多摩川の上流にあたる奥多摩の山中に、遠くからでも一目でわかる一本の木がある。その木は、季節の移り変わりや自然環境に耐え抜き、周囲の風景を静かに見守ってきた。日が昇ると、木は緑色に輝いてあたりを明るく照らし、夕暮れ時にはシルエットが夕焼けに映える。一本の木は、山の景色と調和しながら、優雅さと力強を兼ね備えて、見る者に深い印象をもたらす。

In the mountainous Okutama village, upstream of Tama River in Tokyo, there is a tree distinctly visible from afar. The tree has outlived the changes of seasons and harsh natural environment silently watching the landscape in the neighborhood. When the sun rises, the tree shines with its green leaves and brightens its surroundings. As dusk falls, its silhouette stands out in the sunset. I am struck by the grace and strength of the tree blended into the background mountains.
